This tutorial was made for psp 7 users with intermediate knowledge. In this tutorial I used a free plug-in (ghost) from Flaming Pear.

Open a new image 500x500 transparent. Create a new layer. Go to your picture tube tool and select 3d gold. Attempt to draw a straight line.

to get mine looking somewhat straight I rotated it 15 degrees. Using the deformation tool I increased the length & minimized the width just a little bit.

Create a new layer. Using the selection tool make a marching ant rectangle. Leave some of the 3d tube out of the rectangle selection.

Select a pattern fill. I used finished wood with an angle of 88 so the wood grain goes the length of out 3d tube.

Flood fill our pattern into the marching ant rectangle.

On the layers palette change your layer opacity to 35. Using the eraser tool remove any over hanging pixels along the side. Switch layers and remove the excess from the 3d tube. Go to layers and merge visible.

Add a new layer. Select the 3d gold tube. Attempt to draw a straight line.

With a cut, duplicate, & mirror it will look like we had the perfect line to start with. Create a new layer. Select your preset shapes.

Using the ellipse with a width of 5 create a circle.

Using your magic wand select the outside of the circle we just made. On a new layer flood fill that circle with a medium to light color. I used #EDFE32 which produced a medium shade of transparent gray when introduced to the ghost plug-in. Lighter the color lighter the ghost image. Move the circle & glass layer below the 3d layer. Go to layers and select merge visible. Congratulations!! You've made you own Magnifying Glass.
