This tutorial was made for psp users with basic knowledge.

To make Rodney the reindeer you will need the textures provided in this zip

Open a new image 500x500 transparent. Go to your preset shape and select rectangle stoked at a size of 5. Draw a tall rectangle. Go to your layers Palette and duplicate the layer.

Create a new layer. Go to your preset shapes and select ellipse. Draw a circle. Start your circle at the outer edge of the rectangle we made earlier. End your circle at the outer edge of the second rectangle. Now on each of your layers erase the overlapping lines so yours looks like mine. Go to layers & merge visible. We just made the body for our deer.

Select your mover tool and drag your body to the bottom of your work area. Create a new layer. Using your preset shapes tool set on ellipse draw a oval. Take your select tool and drag your oval onto the body. On a new layer draw a small circle. This will be part of our ear. Once you have the ear positioned on the head duplicate the layer and drag your second ear into place. Now we have the basic shapes for rodney's head.

Now we are going to give our deer the fur look. For the body I used Texture_brown_031.jpg. On the deer body layer, take the magic wand and right click inside the body. Create a new layer and flood fill the texture. Now we need to do some touch ups. For those using psp 5 & 6: use the clone brush to fill in the legs & belly area. For psp7 users: use the paintbrush to fill in the spots. Duplicate your the layer we have been working on. You can delete the deer body outline we wont be needing it anymore. Name the layers back and front. Make your back layer the active layer. Find your image effects and select gaussian blur. To get the effect I have repeat the gaussian blur.

Now select your front layer. Go to your effects and select drop shadow. Here's the settings: offset: both -4, opacity:50, blur:5. Now we are going to repeat our drop shadow step. Change the -4 to 4 on both the offsets.

Now go to image effects and select gaussian blur. Your body is complete.

Now lets work on Rodney's head. We are going to flood fill in the fur the same way we did the body. Using your magic wand click inside the face outline. Create a new layer & flood fill. Do the same thing on each of the ear layers. Do the touch ups the same way we did them on the body. Then merge the face & ear layers. Go to your image effect and select inner bevel.

Now go to image effect and select gaussian blur. Go to file and save as a psp file. You could create several other animals from the head and body you made. It wouldn't take much to make our animal into a bear, cow, mouse or a ram. *s* Create a new layer. With the paintbrush we are going to freehand draw the antlers. For those of you using psp7: using the pattern tool select the shagpile texture. psp 5 & 6: You will be creating a black outline to flood fill the shagpile texture in. I made the first antler kind of like moose shaped then used the eraser to complete the look. Then I duplicated then flipped the new layer. Merge your antler layers. Now for the final touches: create a new layer. Select you paintbrush, using black paint a small black circle on Rodney's face. On another layer paint a white oval. On that same oval paint in the colored part of the eye. When it looks the way you like it duplicate & merge the eye layers. Take the magic wand and go to image effects outer bevel.

Go to layers and select merge visible.

Congratulations!! You've made you own Rodney.
